RECONSTRUCTION GALLERY
Dental reconstruction refers to rebuilding all the upper or lower teeth or both. Reasons for a reconstruction include replacement of old restorations, creating a more harmonious smile, supporting facial structures (especially for loss of vertical facial height). There are many functional and esthetic advantages to restoring teeth in this manner. When finances are a consideration, it is often possible to provide completed treatment in stages.
Pauline
The Challenge
Old crowns on Pauline's back teeth were showing dark margins at the gum line and her front teeth were crowded and dark.
The Solution
Replacement crowns and veneers provide Pauline with an attractive smile line and youthful look.
Mike
The Challenge
Repairing teeth one at a time can result in a "hodgepodge" smile. Michael was ready for a comprehensive solution that would correct the crowding and dark colors.
The Solution
A combination of ceramic crowns and veneers were designed to provide Michael with a reconstructed bite and flashy, bright smile.
Annie
The Challenge
Annie's previous dentistry was not that old, but the teeth were very opaque, porcelain ws fracturing and there was evidence of cement around many of the margins.
The Solution
Annie was able to make an investment in finer dentistry with her reconstruction. Well-trained and skilled dentists can often reach these results in a stepwise approach over several years. Dentists who have adequate training can be compared on their website smile galleries.
Richard
The Challenge
Tired of all his worn and crowded teeth, which looked overly yellow, Richard requested a perfect smile.
The Solution
One option for making bright teeth look natural is the addition of subtle colorations within the new porcelain veneers. The close-up view demonstrates the many color effects that can be added to provide a natural appearance. A combination of all-ceramic crowns and veneers was utilized.
Judy
The Challenge
Judy showed considerable wear, discoloration and was experiencing headaches from her bruxism habit.
The Solution
Judy's bite was opened to restore normal height to her face and to relax jaw muscles. Most of the cant to her smile was also corrected with this full reconstruction.
Ruby
The Challenge
Ruby's old crowns were yellow. She wanted a more youthful smile.
The Solution
Replacement crowns on the upper arch provided a beautiful, vibrant smile.
Sila
The Challenge
As a television personality, it was important to Sila to have a great smile. She wanted to replace crowns on some back teeth and she wanted her front teeth to display more. She had a history of clenching her teeth.
The Solution
After a trial bite opening with composite, then provisional crowns on back teeth, Sila's dentistry was completed in three stages. The after photo is after her second stage is complete. An appropriate facial height has been restored and a bright smile is in place for her to "show off."
Arlene
The Challenge
Arlene's previous upper crowns had been designed to fit her existing lower teeth. This forced the dentist to make a lop-sided smile.
The Solution
By treating the upper and lower teeth simultaneously, Dr. Strain was able to level the bite while providing an integrated look to her joyful face.
Judi
The Challenge
Judi requested a fuller smile along with the treatment of her discolored teeth.
The Solution
Widening the upper arch required changing the design of the front teeth as well. This was planned in wax and approved by the patient prior to the upper reconstruction. Judi plans to complete her treatment with veneers on her darker lower front teeth.
Cheryl
The Challenge
Cheryl had been systematically and unconsciously breaking her back teeth and grinding down her front teeth for years. She wanted a natural and youthful smile to compliment her outgoing personality and appearance.
The Solution
The grinding down of the front teeth had created damaging forces on her back teeth. A "smile lift" procedure re-created a natural smile line with ceramic veneers. With guidance for the jaw now controlled by the new front teeth, the damaged back teeth could then be restored to health. The smile lift increased her facial height, taking years off Cheryl's appearance and adding life to her smile.
