Mrs. Australia Sports New Runway Smile

When Danielle Larche arrived in the United States several weeks before the 2008 Mrs. Globe contest, her first stop was at the dentist where she had pre-arranged an appointment for new veneers. She had always disliked her teeth and looked forward to participating in the Mrs. Globe Contest with a radiant new smile. It was a big surprise to her when she was told she couldn't have the smile she wanted in time for the competition.
The dentist wisely suggested that she have orthodontics first, to position her teeth and gum levels appropriately for the best long term results. All she could feel as she took her position on the runway during practice was that she didn't want to participate when she didn't feel like smiling. In fact, the sponsors noticed how unhappy she looked on the runway during rehearsals, where the other beautiful ladies were walking and smiling proudly.

Dr. Robert Strain of Rancho Mirage was called in to help. He came up with a solution of direct (same day) veneers, where Danielle's existing teeth were not altered. Although not as durable or perfect as ceramic veneers, direct composite veneers are used by skilled dentists for patients who are young, undergoing gum maturation, planning orthodontics or limited financially. Dr. Strain was able to complete a new smile for Mrs. Australia in just a couple of hours on the same day as her first runway competition.
That evening Mrs. Australia beamed as she walked the runway. She was as excited as all the other contestants. Danielle later wrote Dr. Strain, "I can not believe that the work you did in that short amount of time has made such a difference to the look of my teeth and also my confidence - as I still can not stop smiling :)"
